SURE FIRE HIT.....this will tell you where/when/and how to catch larger than normal trout.. it will involve using live bait so i will probably lose some hardware folk right here..this is the time of year that a lot of large trout are caught freelining shrimp or piggy perch.....you want to fish one of two different ,but both prime areas... walkin' the rocks at the jetties... or fishing an area of shallow (calf to neck deep wading) water which abuts a dropoff.. you will find that walking the rocks at the jetties will be far more productive than workin' the rocks from a boat with a trolling motor... (there are a number of reasons for this which i won't get into now).. water movement is a must.. i like to fish the last 2 hours of a falling tide and the first 2 hours of rising tide.. .. THE BAIT..... you should freeline the bait.... no weight.. with shrimp i will hook it at the horn(top) with a small #10 treble hook.. leaving two of the 3 hooks sticking up....with the piggy perch i will hook it through the mouth. top and bottom lips using a #8 or a # 10 treble hook... if any weights are needed because of the current... use as small as possible split shot 15 to 18" above the bait.. try not to interfere with the natural swimming motion of the bait.. the tide runners are coming in and this method should get you your share.. see you on the water.. captmac
